The Michigan State Historical Preservation Office

The Main function of Michigan's SHPO is to provide technical assistance to local communities in their efforts to identify, evaluate, designate, and protect Michigan's historic resources. The SHPO also administers an incentives program that includes state and federal tax credits and pass-through grants available to Certified Local Governments

The Milford American Legion Post is very active in the community - sponsoring and organizing the
Memorial Day Parade and maintaining the War Memorial in Central Park among other things.
The Milford Memorial one of the few  anywhere in the country that recognizes all six branches that
served in various wars with their flags -honoring those who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force,
Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines.
The History of Oakland County  - The 1912 book by Thaddeus D. Seeley that
was compiled from various newspaper articles from the 19th century. On-line version.
